Inshore waters are heavily influenced by the ebb and flow of the tides. These waterways include marshes,
creeks, inlets, and other shallow waters beyond the surf zone. Inshore fish varieties feed on the shrimp, grubs, and
invertebrates that wash in and out with the action of the tides. Inshore fishing tackle is light to medium. Fish prefer
moving water so fishing at dead high or low tide does not produce optimum results. Try the mouths of rivers at outgoing
tides or along shell banks or oyster beds.
Surf fishing requires
heavier tackle than inshore fishing since you will need to be able to cast out to and beyond the breaking surf. Heavier line
and sinkers are also required. Fish seek out gullies and sloughs so focus on those spots.
The best way to fish offshore is to charter a trip with a licensed Captain, crew, and boat.
